Here is a quick update,
The name is now easily visible, when I get my airbrush they will be made in contrasting colours .
Also started the fun work, kitbashing the german tank ..
Short but nice I think !
Laters
Hi there, here is an update of the build so far …
Here is a rough idea of what I am going to build. Its for studying the materials and techniques of modelbuilding and airbrushing before I am going to try something bigger (like a multiyear project – see the future builds and concepts section).
The left side is panelling with only a minimum of elevation of the letters from the base, where I will tryout scribing and airbrushing panel lines and weathering.
The right side is 26 mm deep and will be used to tryout real modelbuilding techniques. Bought a 600+ part german military vihicle that i will kitbash for the parts. Maybe if I feel like it I will incorporate a laser and some leds.
Wood working the base …
Some nice room to build some parts into ..
Covering the wood with styropreen sheets of 1 mm thick. I must practise this some moer as there are multitudes of cracks and overhanging pieces. This will need some serious putty and sanding .
Spent a whole afternoon sanding, filing and putty-ing the letters and corners in the base. Not the most exiting work. Also did the rough panelling on the left side. Its a 1mm thick sheet cut into panels onto which the next layers will be placed.
I am contemplating if I should file the sides of the panels down to have a more smooth transition onto the underlying sheet.
